Clubs in Schools - Our Long Term Program

 

While in South Africa, students began to ask us what they could do to continue our work after we left.  Then other students answered the question.  They could start Future Leaders For Peace Clubs!!

 

We decided to develop a model first, before starting clubs across the world.  So we partnered with the Berkeley (LEARNS) after school program, specifically at Willard and Longfellow middle schools in Berkeley.  In the Spring of 2008, we started our first clubs.

In order for these clubs to run successfully, we have created a volunteer training program on the UC Berkeley campus and have called it our Cal Focus Group.  This group of students develops the concepts of Future Leaders For Peace in their own lives, then helps younger students develop the same skills by volunteering in our middle school clubs.
