Positive Attitudes
Future Leaders For Peace is a program for local youth. Lead by trained, university-level mentors, Future Leaders for Peace gives young people an outlet for expression, while teaching positive ways of approaching life challenges and dreams.
Our programs are held at schools and consist of assemblies, breakout workshops, clubs and parent/adults events. Students learn through a series of ten simple concepts that are easy to remember and apply to daily interactions. Our objective is providing the tools that help build skills in the following areas: leadership, mutual respect, communication, humility, confidence, appreciation and goal setting.
Why Future Leaders for Peace?
Since 2005, Future Leaders for Peace has worked with over 11,000 young people and 2,600 adults. In 2007 and 2008, our programs were presented to almost 100 different schools. Our core concepts have had proven success for building leaders in California, Hawaii, and South Africa. The program can provide a "safe space" for students to express themselves, and fun activities as outlets for that expression. Through this "grassroots" approach, Future Leaders for Peace is building more peaceful communities through the individual participants.
Young people are the leaders of the future. We equip them with techniques to build peace in their daily lives and relationships. Through them we change the world.
