Jonathan R. Kathrein
Executive Director, President & Co-Founder
Jonathan is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, and studied business and politics. He co-founded Future Leaders For Peace in January 2005.
He is an expert in leadership and peace-building, and is a skilled inspirational speaker. In 2007, Jonathan won the Jefferson Award for Public Service. He has captivated school groups with his story across the United States, England, and South Africa.
He has been featured in Sports Illustrated magazine, the New York Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, People of The Year ’98 (Germany), the National Geographic Channel, the Discovery Channel, and Dateline NBC.
Sarah LeMier
Director of Operations
Hailing from the State of Washington, Sarah brings an entrepreneurial spirit gleaned from years of developing a remodeling company. Sarah graduated from Western Washington University with a B.A., pairing funding with experiential education, and a minor in Economics. Sarah enjoys spending time with her dog Herbert, boating, and golf.
Marianne Perez
Program Team
Marianne is a UC Berkeley student majoring in Social Welfare. Prior to joining Future Leaders For Peace, Marianne worked in the summer camp environment to inspire and develop leadership skills among underprivileged youth from Los Angeles. Marianne currently co-leads our club meetings in East Bay schools and specializes in program development and volunteer recruitment.
Mikaela Sugarman
Program Team
Mikaela is a UC Berkeley student majoring in Social Welfare with a focus in child psychology. Mikaela coordinates our Program Team around the entire Bay Area, and co-leads our club meetings in Marin County schools, where she also recruits volunteers.
Daniel Pascoe
Program Team
Daniel, from Marin County, has overcome major obstacles in his life and now aspires to share his knowledge and passion with youth. Prior to joining Future Leaders For Peace, Daniel spent three years working with troubled youth in boarding school lockdown facilities in Nevada and Montana. Daniel has also been trained as a Life Coach and possesses substantial knowledge about family relationship systems. In addition, Daniel is an inspirational speaker and speaks on the topics of self awareness, addiction, and overcoming life challenges. Currently, Daniel leads our club meetings in schools around the Bay Area and specializes in program development.
